Why every Ontario teen getting their licence should register as an organ donor, too.
Nothing says main character like being the reason someone gets a second chance.
Every 3 days, someone in Ontario dies waiting.
Open Ontario's donor registration page on your phone, or scan the QR code below.
Register with your Ontario health card. That's all you need.
Let them know what you want, so they can honour it.
Register as an organ donor in 2 minutes with your Ontario health card. Then tell your family.
Register nowEvery Ontario high school student needs 40 hours of community involvement to graduate. Run an organ donor campaign at your school and count the time toward yours. Everything you need is right here: flyers, slides and TikToks, made for your grade.
Get it approved first. Each school board decides which activities count, so show this page to your guidance counsellor before you start. Ask whether time during class counts, and which form to log your hours on.
Pitch the campaign to guidance or your principal and ask where you can post flyers and present.
Use the main kit for everyone, or the Ate and Aura kits to reach girls and guys in their own language.
Put up flyers, present in class or at an assembly, and post the TikToks on your school's socials.
Track your dates and hours as you go, then have your supervisor sign your school's community involvement form.
Three kits, one goal. Mix them: the main kit works for a whole-school assembly, and the Ate and Aura kits hit harder on socials.
Ask the driver's ed teacher for five minutes at the start of class. These students are about to get their G1, so the timing is perfect.
Set up a table with the QR code. Students scan, register with their health card and you're done in two minutes each.
Post the three flyers by the washrooms, cafeteria and gym, where people actually stop and look.
Post one TikTok a day on your school's or student council's account, and end each one with beadonor.ca.
I had the idea for this website when I was getting my drivers license. I was excited to get my drivers license, and only paid attention to the part about organ donation because of my family's experience. And let's face it, who reads the boring text on the Ontario.ca website? I made this site, the videos and presentations for kids like me.
When I was 10, my mom suffered kidney failure and was on dialysis and required a kidney transplant. Luckily, my aunt donated her kidney to my mom.
It was life changing for my mom, and for my whole family. My mom could eat whatever we ate, she didn't need to get dialysis every other day. She could travel with us. She was back to my mom. Most people on the transplant waiting list aren't as lucky.
I started a fund raising campaign for the Kidney Foundation, first with my hockey team at the time, and it has expanded to friends, and strangers since. We've raised over $10,000 since. Donate here if you're interested and able:
